Norton Museum of Art
The Norton Museum of Art tops the list of interesting places to visit. It houses over 7000 works of art, and is the largest art museum in the entire state of Florida.
The building itself is a work of art. It features an enclosed courtyard, a glass ceiling installation, a three-story atrium, and a cantilevered spiral staircase. The staircase alone is worth the trip to the museum. Recently, a parking lot next to the museum was converted into a sculpture garden that covers 9000 square feet.
Every two years, the Norton Museum of Art awards the Rudin Prize for Emerging Photographers. This award comes with $20,000 in prize money. As you can imagine, competition for this prize is fierce, so you can expect to see some fabulous photographs when you visit the museum.
